Open Call: HÖKARÄNGSNYTT echo — special issue: From One Neighborhood to Another

HÖKARÄNGSNYTT has been a cherished part of Hökarängen for many years. It is distributed by hand and platforms the neighborhood's voices. Even though it stopped circulating a few years ago, it remains an important part of Hökarängen's collective memory.

Artist Hichem Merouche will revive HÖKARÄNGSNYTT in a special issue in the context of his participation in "Metaphysical Thresholds," a duo exhibition opening April 24 at Konsthall C. The special issue will function both as an artwork and a publication created in dialogue with its founding editorial team as an exploration of its archive. It echoes the role HÖKARÄNGSNYTT once played while engaging with contemporary life in the neighborhood. The core of this special issue is a text commissioned by Merouche that reflects on notions of departure, transformation, and intergenerational transmission. Written by an invited artist from Algeria, this core text is a gesture of invitation from one neighborhood to another. 

Do you have local news, announcements (birth, marriage or obituary announcements, major achievements by someone in the area, etc.), artworks by you or family members that represent the neighborhood, reflections on the state of the world at the moment as you perceive it from Hökarängen? We are especially interested in texts of any kind or photographs that relate to the experience of distance from a loved one, whether that distance is geographical or emotional, and stories related to the loss or transformation of one's home or neighborhood.
