KLISTER
KLISTER is a nationwide network of small and medium-sized art organizers. From north to south, KLISTER brings together over 40 public and non-profit initiatives for contemporary art, with the aim of strengthening the position of art in Sweden.
Members include Bildmuseet i Umeå, Norrtälje Konsthall, and Röda Sten Konsthall.
Many people who work with art around the country are part of larger organizations where understanding of its role in society is not always obvious. With few colleagues, or sometimes none at all, many feel a need for collegial support. KLISTER is an initiative that arose from this need. Here, curators, communicators, educators, and directors gather to exchange experiences and find common interests.
The network is organized by its members, freely and according to their own abilities. Industry news, joint challenges, and public relations are often discussed. Members who are able to do so represent the network in various contexts, such as cultural policy discussions and meetings. Since KLISTER is nationwide, it has close contact with other actors working for the arts at the national level, such as the Public Art Agency/Moderna and Bildkonst Sverige.
Since 2011, the network has produced reports, organized public discussions, and worked strategically in other ways to promote art throughout the country.
A group within KLISTER is currently working with a communications agency to produce a public campaign aimed at informing the public about the role of art in society and the function of its members in their respective fields. The campaign is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2026.
During the period 2025–2026, the network's activities are coordinated by Erik Annerborn, managing director at Konsthall C. KLISTER meets digitally on the first Friday of every month.
Together, we strengthen each other—and art—throughout the country.
